DIPLOME DE LANGUE DE L’ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE PARIS’.

This exam requires that the candidate have good knowledge in all linguistic skills. At this level, he should be able to:
- use the principal structures of the language with reasonable confidence,
- show a good knowledge of the vocabulary,
- use the adequate strategies of communication in a number of day-to-day situations.

He also should be able to react to unexpected situations, mastering the different levels of formality in the language.

This diploma is issued by the French Ministry of Education and is recognised internationally. It is made of 5 parts:
- written comprehension,
- written production,
- oral comprehension,
- oral production,
- structural skills


DIPLÔME SUPÉRIEUR D'ETUDES FRANÇAISES MODERNES DS
The DS is a language diploma of advanced level, issued by the French Ministry of Education. It certifies that the candidate is well versed with the structures of the French language and that they have a fluency in it. It is made of 2 parts:

- a test on linguistic skills (common part),
- a test on cultural knowledge

Those who pass the DS thus have good communication skills as well as sound cultural knowledge.
