9 am- 6 pm, 10-25 July @ Art Gallery, Alliance
Française de Trivandrum
As Chandigarh and Firminy share a common Le Corbusier's
bacground, the two cities would profit from a closer
collaboration on cultural, educational and tourist field.
One part of cooperation is an exchange programme of
photographers, for which Diwan Manna was invited to
France as an artist to capture the city of Firminy in
his camera. Likewise, a photographer from Firminy, Michel
Dieudonné spent three weeks in Chandigarh in the month
of February with the same objective. An exhibition of
the photographs taken by them showing Chandigarh through
French eyes and Firminy through Indian eyes, was held
in Firminy in October 2006 during the inauguration of
the newly built Saint Pierre Church. Diwan Manna's pictures
comprise of the interiors and exteriors of the Saint-Pierre
church in Firminy. Michel Dieudonné took pictures of
the Capital complex in Chandigarh.
