French language diplomas of national and International value
The DELF and the DALF certificates,created by ministerial decree on 22 May 1985,are now offered in 900 centres throughout 154 countries. About 350 000 units are taken every year and 60 000 people are awarded a certificate.There has been 2 500 000 registrations since it was created.

From 1 September 2005 onwards ,the DELF and DALF certificates have been harmonised with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages from the Council of Europe. Candidates who have been awarded the DALF are exempted from language entrance examinations in french universities.
